Studio Policies

Studio & Class Etiquette

Parents, students, siblings, and guests are expected to treat each other, instructors, and staff with the utmost respect by using appropriate language and good manners at Dance Scene Studios. ALWAYS keep a positive attitude and encourage others!

NO CELL PHONES, IPODS, OR MP3 PLAYERS ARE ALLOWED IN CLASS AT ANYTIME, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Electronic devices brought to class will be confiscated and may be picked up in the office by a parent.

Please wait for instructor’s permission to enter the dance room. Students must remain in class for the entire class. Disruptive students will be asked to sit out of class and parents will be notified.

As always: No food, candy, or gum in class. Water is permitted.

Hair & Dress Code

Students MUST follow Hair Policy and Dress Code at all times.

ALL ballet students MUST secure hair neatly in a ballet bun for every class.
All other techniques must have hair securely away from face and off neck.
Students should not play or need to adjust hair during class.

Dress Code

A dancer’s attire greatly determines the attitude toward their class work. Therefore, we require that the Dress Code be followed at all times. Instructors may prohibit class participation by a student who regularly neglects this requirement.

Watches, bracelets, necklaces, and dangly earrings may not be worn during class. Correct attire allows the teacher to view and correct a student’s body alignment and technique.

Loose fitting clothing (crop tops, sweatshirts, street clothes, etc.) is not permitted. Solid, tight fitting tanks and t-shirts are permissible as long as sport bras and undergarments do not show. Please keep undergarments UNDER your garments. No dresses or tutu style dancewear is permitted.

Class Attendance & Participation

Regular attendance is essential to maximize the full benefit of dance instruction for every student in class. We encourage parents to stress the importance of attending class and mandatory rehearsals.  Our program is a continuous program from August through June.

Missed classes may be made-up in case of illness, injury, or family emergency. Students may make up a missed class by attending any class of the same level or a level below with instructor approval.

PLEASE NOTE: Missed classes must be made up within 30 days of absence and only a maximum of 4 dance classes per year may be made-up. Because classes begin working on recital pieces, no make-up classes will be allowed after March and students not participating in recitals will be excused until the next semester.

The Director may prohibit recital participation for students with excessive absences or poor class participation.

Arrival and Departure

Students should arrive 5 – 10 minutes early to prepare for class. Students may be asked to warm up on their own or observe class if they arrive late. This is a safety precaution to avoid injury.

Students should wait in the lobby of Dance Scene Studios or Dancer’s Room to be picked up by their parents or guardians. Students 6 years of age or younger should be met at the appropriate dance room by their parents or guardians.

Parents, while your child is very welcome at Dance Scene Studios, the studio is not to be used for daycare purposes. (i.e., do not leave your child to play at the studio while you are away.) Accordingly, dancers cannot be left to “try out” the class following their regularly scheduled class without prior approval. Drop in rates will be applied to the account accordingly.
